05 LE Lift Kit w/pics

Postby ZzZleeper » Mon Oct 19, 2015 9:26 am

Hey there! Ive been stalking this forum for a while now, gathering all the info i can. Now i feel its time i add to it some!

So me and the wife bought an 05 LE about 3 years ago, and have left it completely stock for sometime. After helping my brother find his new FJ and getting it trail ready, i decided to do some add-ons to ours as well.

I started by getting a 2in polyurethane spacer lift kit, and some XD 17x9 +18mm wheels with 285-70-17 Cooper RTX tires. Then finally got the bull bar for the front. I got it all installed on Saturday, and did the alignment, and took it out on a trail on Sunday! I was actually very impressed with it! there was nothing it wasnt handling, and it equally performed with two Trail Team FJs. I got some pics of it, and had a blast!

But, i did have a few concerns i was hoping you all might have some insight with. So we had to throw it into 4Low for a few spots. It went in just fine, and did great going up. But when we were going down, i noticed some clanking noises coming from the front. It sounded more like slack from the driveshaft to transfer case if that makes sense. It didnt make any suspension noises, no noises while turning or anything like that. It was more when i would accelerate and then let off quickly, i would hear a "clunk" as it was decelerating. Is this a normal thing, or is there something i should look at??? ive never had to use 4low before so im not sure if this is normal.

And then second, is there any aftermarket skid plates for the pathfinder? I am aware there are some stock plates for the Off Road edition, but i was looking for something a little more robust.

Anyways, here are the pics!!

Hello, love the look, I have the same color and was wondering how black wheels would look. I just bought new 16 tires so I wont be going bigger anytime soon.

I would look up Shrockworks, they dont have the plates on the site for the Pathy, but if you give them a call they have them. They are pretty pricey tho. I think I was looking at $600-$800 for the set

Thanks Guys!

So i've had the kit on for about 2 weeks now, and i have to say i am very impressed with it! The ride is a little stiffer than stock, but i always felt the R51 suspension was pretty soft to start with. But it drives great! When im doing about 70, the steering wheel feels a little bit looser than before, but im sure the wheels and tires play into this as well.

Thanks for the links on the plates! Im now in the market to buy some plates and probably some rock sliders as well. We are going to be heading down to Moab in 2 weeks, so i should have a better update on the pathy then, and some awesome pictures!

The bull bar is a Texas Hunter bar.

@ZzZLeeper, we should get together sometime, I would love to chat about the lift and if you would let me get underneath to see the setup. I have some air bags I need to install and exhaust right now

Also what kind of lift kit did you buy? Did you have it installed or did you install it yourself?
