All four wheel bearings gone

Postby labsy » Fri May 13, 2016 4:58 pm

Hi,

few days ago I begun hearing humming sound when driving over 70mph, which comes out to be right front wheel bearing. As I went to my friend to examine all bearings, front right had so much play that I barely had guts to drive back home.
No kidding, but top of the wheel has almost 1/2 inch play from inside out!!! Tried other wheels and ALL had play, not so much, but actually all bearings are gone.

WTF?! My vehicle has 125.000 miles and one wheel almost falls off, and all bearings gone. Beside that, I am collecting $$$ for engine head gasket and chains replacement service, as coolant is literally pouring out through the head gasket.

Is it just my joy, or are those vehicles really so badly put together?

I've heard of the occasional bad wheel bearing on the North American models, usually in the front, but never heard anyone have all four bad at the same time. Must have had some hard miles!

I guess my frequent water wadings and river crossings added quite some on bearings life shortening :)

Yea. I would say that would do it.

I think my front bearings are going out too. They make a humming sound kinda randomly.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hub bearings?
Like which brands are reliable.
Thanks

I usually go with Timken. Moog is also pretty good.
