Power steering are weak

Postby RakeshJD » Wed Nov 28, 2018 1:10 am

Hello,,,

About 8 months ago my rack and pinion was leaking and was replaced.
About 2 months ago I replaced my power steering pump because it would not turn at idle speeds. It made it GoToMeeting IrfanView Town of Salem really difficult to get in and out of parking spaces and impossible to back a trailer.

The power steering issue is back, I am not certain the pump ever really solved the problem.

What else causes power steering issues, especially at low RPMs?

This is on a 2006 Pathfinder......
Plzzzz help...

Usually that's the issue on a system with a bad pump. A bad rack (other than just leaking) will usually cause jerking when trying to turn in one or both directions. A faulty pump will just make it hard to turn in either direction. Only way to test is with a power steering pressure gauge hooked inline between the pump and the high pressure hose, but most shops usually don't have one.
