Oil Gauge Reading Mid point then low

Postby cleepau » Thu Apr 03, 2014 8:26 am

My wife's 2005 LE Pathfinder just had the oil changed and now the gauge will read about half way up, then it will slide down to the low side, then move back up. This happens while idling or driving.

I checked the oil and it's full. Does this sound like the sending unit is dying/dead? Coincidence that it happened right after an oil change?

Thanks for any help.

Mine did that. Changing the oil pressure sensor fixed it.

Thanks; guess that will be the next thing to replace. Just spent $3,300 yesterday for the infamous radiator leak into the transmission problem.

Rebuilt the transmission; work around on the radiator cooler system and replaced the rear bearing as it was leaking a little, so better to spend $40 now rather that $400 later.
