2006 pathfinder trans issue

Hi all I have a 2006 4.0L V6 auto pathfinder. It sometimes while driving will make a clunk noise and get stuck in 3rd gear until I pull over, shut it down and restart it. Also it has twice neutralised, once in reverse and the other at 100kph. Both times the problem as been rectified by a restart. The car has done 215000k's and has an external trans oil cooler. I'm thinking it's a clutch solenoid dropping out or something electrical. Hopefully someone else has had a similar problem and can shed some light on the issue. Thanks
