Grinding on startup

I've noticed that when I start the pf a grinding soud comes before the oil guage comes up. I have the ses light on but hasn't pulled the codes yet.

I would start by getting the codes read.

the code may or may not be related to the noise, but it would be good to find out what it is
a mechanics stethoscope would be helpful to locate the noise
