Several codes P0463, C1163 and C1156

Postby mforce » Mon Dec 29, 2014 10:30 am

I went by autozone and they read the codes off for me. I had the evap canister replaced less then 10,000 miles ago when I bought the vehicle. That would be for the P0463 correct? I also researched the C1163 and C1156 and it says it is for alignment but I have not taken it in for alignment. Any help here is appreciated. I can fix it once I figure out what to do. Thank in advance.

P0463 is for the fuel sending unit. You'll need the fuel sending unit and "O" seal to fix it. There was a TSB for it. If you have a 2006 model year, it may be covered under a recall. Also, the warranty was extended for 05-08 models to 72 months/72000 miles. See link:

There's also a Nissan TSB for the C1156 and C1163 codes. See link:

It is an 05 with 85,000 on it. They just replaced the fuel sending using and evap at 76,000 miles on it. Could this have went out again already. It has been 1 1/2 years since they did the work. We don't drive it much!

Well, the evaporative emissions system has nothing to do with any of these codes. Could the 1-1/2 year old sender failed?... Sure, it could. You could always refer to the Nissan factory service manual and do the circuit checks to confirm that it is definitely the cause of the problem. I've yet to hear of anything else causing the P0463 code to set, but there's always a first!

I tend to top it off when I fill up. Could this be causing me issues? It runs great except for these codes!

It shouldn't have anything to do with it, especially in regards to the C1156 and C1163 codes, which appear, according to the TSB, have to do with the steering position sensor and/or ABS actuator and have nothing to do with engine performance nor the gas tank.
