R51 4.0 V6?

I was reading that the VQ40DE V6 we have in the Pathy, Frontier, Xtera is basically a re-worked Maxima engine not sure what the model number is but I think it's a 3.5 liter. So I was wondering is it the bore or the stroke that pushed it to 4.0 liters?

I wouldn't say it's a "reworked" Maxima engine, but another version of the VQ engine family, which began in the USA with the 1995 Maxima VQ30DE, which had a bore of 93mm and a stroke of 73.3mm. The VQ35DE and VQ40DE have the same bore of 95.5mm. The stroke is longer in the VQ40DE at 92mm, compared to 81.4mm in the VQ35DE.
