Yes it is the flexplate and no it's not a good thing lol. As the flexplate spins the crank position sensor reads the positioning but since the center was broken and had allowed the outside portion to move slightly it made the timing off and the ecu didnt like it and shut it down after a few seconds of running. If that makes sense I didn't do a very good job with the explanation.Kestral wrote:Ok so help out a guy who has never seen one of these? Is this the trans flex plate we are looking at? And I assume all the missing pieces and what looks like broken areas is not a good thing? And why would this cause the motor not to run?
By the way the inside of your motor looks real clean.
Yeah I'm not sure what caused it, I did hear a tick coming from the bell housing when this first started but it didnt sound like a typical broken flexplate tick so I took it to a shop and I was told "don't worry about it" lol. Yes Im glad to have it back, it sat for 2 years until I had the funds to tackle the timing components, radiator, and possible trans rebuild.......turns out I just needed to replace the radiator and flexplate, oh well all tsb issues have been addressed. Now I need to do some research on tuners I was looking into the bully dog systems.Thupertrooper wrote:Only other thing i can think of it high rpm transmission sudden change that is strange.
I would think you would hear more noise out the back with that kind of damage.
Good thing you figured it out finally it was about time.
