2006 diesel transmission issue? On a manual?

Postby Adey2004 » Sat Oct 03, 2015 8:35 am

Hi all

Been reading this forum for days now since I got my new pathfinder, one thing I can't find is

Is the transmission problem only on automatic transmissions? I have the European speck 2.5diesel and can't find the dipstick for the transmission

Desperate to know as its bugging the hell out of me

By "transmission problem" you mean ATF with coolant cross contamination due to leak in combined radiator? If YES, then YES (I think), because only automatic transmission has ATF fluid cooler/heater, which is combined with main engine cooler.

But AFAIK European (factory in Spain) models are NOT prone to this failure, or at least not so often as other production lines. I simply check every week the color of antifreeze/coolant on the radiator cap to make sure everything is OK. If cross contamination occurs, you may avoid or at least limit the damage by detecting failure as soon as it happens and act quickly.
