2011 Pathfinder Antifreeze?

Postby marc515 » Wed Oct 21, 2015 2:07 pm

We have a 2011 Pathy with 35K miles on her, and even though the manual calls for 7years/105K antifreeze replacement, I'd like to do it now.

What antifreeze do you guys use?

Thank you

You are really wasting your money replacing it that soon. You should have Nissan Blue antifreeze, which, as you stated, is good for 7-years/105,000 miles and 5-years/75000 miles for subsequent replacement intervals. Earlier Nissans used the Nissan Green anti-freeze, which was good for 4-years/60,000 miles.

To answer your question, any of the universal color antifreezes will work, such as Prestone. The green and universal antifreezes are not as good as the Nissan Blue coolant and I would recommend that if you absolutely have to replace it, stick with the factory fill Nissan Blue, which comes pre-diluted and is P/N: 999MP – LP25500P.
Even with the Nissan Green, you can tell a noticeable difference between it and aftermarket green antifreezes; it's noticeably darker and appears to be of a thicker viscosity. I use the Nissan Green in my 06 Pathy, mixed 50/50 with distilled water that I get at Walmart, as the Nissan Green is cold concentrated.
Nissan Green and Blue are fully compatible, but the Green will shorten the service life of the Nissan Blue.
