Do I need a new thermostat??

Postby dutchgunz » Thu Oct 29, 2015 11:51 am

Hey Guys,

My PF is blowing warm air when warmed up but by no means hot air. The service engine light is on and said something about a thermostat?? The temperature gauge does not go up as the motor warms up either. Do I need a new thermostat or do I just need to "burp" the system? Thanks!!

For sure look over the cooling system
Drain fluid and make sure its clean coolant
Does the temp gauge show its hot?

The temp gauge on the dash does not go above the C. It doesn't move. But I am getting warm air. Ok, I'll try draining the coolant and checking to see if it's clean.

If the temp guage isnt marking anything warm then most likely the thermostat is stuck open but might have gunk In system thats why i would check whats in it first.

properly & thoroughly burp the system
if that doesn't work (it probably will), diagnose further
