P0507

Postby disallow » Thu Nov 05, 2015 3:04 pm

Hey everyone,

Checked the codes today and have a new one, P0507 - Idle Control System RPM Higher Than Expected.

Truck is running just fine, and RPMs are not high, so I am confused.

I did replace my Brake Cylinder Check Valve last night, and it made a huge difference in the smoothness of the engine and the action on the brakes. All was improved.

Any ideas? I am going to clear it and see if it comes back.

I could see the brake check valve causing the P0507 code to set. Erase the code and it will probably be fine. If not, perform an idle air volume relearn.

I'd also check for vacuum leaks (might try with some starter spray, spraying it carefully on non-visible areas of vacuum hoses and when you hit the hole, vacuum will soak starter spray, engine would rev up and you've found a leak). Check for leaks also near air intake valve.

...and cleaning air intake valve could also help, as it is a part of regular maintenance.
