2008 Nissan Pathfinder keeps dying at idle

Postby Akspeerly » Mon Apr 04, 2016 8:20 am

My check engine light came on and so did the VDC OFF and SLIP light on the dash. Code P0340, Camshaft Position Sensor. Replaced Camshaft Position Sensor and Mass Air Flow Sensor. Cleared codes. No lights are on now but it's dying at idle.

Any suggestions?

change the cam sensor. get it from Nissan, the aftermarket are dubious at best. (Though I have have an aftermarket Crank sensor in mine right now and it has been OK so far)

What about some old-school diagnostic?
I remember we used Start-Spray spraying near possible vacuum leaks on numerous hoses. Spray here and there and when idle revs suddenly increased (due to start-spray being sucked in by vacuum leak), voila, we'we found leaking vacuum hose.

Replaced the camshaft position sensor again with oem part and cleared code. Test drive. Check engine light back on, same code as before.

Same problem, new plugs, camshaft position sensor and a cleaning of the intake system makes me wonder if I should replace the crank position sensor?
