Disconnected hose. Need help identifying.

Postby Flexo » Sun Apr 10, 2016 1:07 pm

I need a bit of help with a 2011 Pathfinder SV that I just purchased. I was looking around the engine bay and discovered an unconnected hose dangling near the air filter box. It had a plastic fastener that looked like it should snap into an empty hole on a tab on the side of the box. I put it back in place to secure it but the hose definitely looks like it has a fitting for another hose to attach. I can't find anything that would attache to in in that area of the engine bay. It looks like the other end terminates near the bottom of the radiator but I didn't absolutely verify that.

Here are some pictures of what I am talking about:

Does anyone know what this is and if it needs to be connected to another hose somewhere? Thanks for your help.[/url]

So, is there something that should be connected to the end of the hose? It looks like it has a fitting for another hose to connect

Nope, that's the way it's supposed to be.

Im not sure if there was a plastic piece like a zip tie that holds it up since mine has been loose all the time i just make sure i have it up.

The "zip tie" is factory. It has a clip on the bottom that clips into a bracket that's part of the air cleaner.

On my Pathy there are 3 hoses like this near front air filter, all three shaped like yours. They are front diff, auto transmission and center diff breathing hoses. There's a 3-seat plastic clip there, fixed to large air intake tube, which holds all 3 hoses together, so they don't walk around too much.
If you have 2WD manual model, then it's most probably just front diff breather hose.
