The Nissan Path

My 06 Pathy LE is a gas guzzler.....it is only giving me 16 mpg city and highway combined. Anybody else in this forum having the same issue? During the first month I was getting 17.5 mpg and it just dropped to 16 mpg. The only thing I changed was the air filter....changed to the K&N drop in filter.

My wife averages in the 16's during the winter and around 17 in the summer. It's kind of mixed, but more city driving. We have a 4wd le.

I get like 12-13 city + short highway trips.

the sticker shows 15-19mpg average, 16 is in that range. Would be nice to get more, but you're getting as advertised mileage. the winter blends of gas hurt, i averaged 15.5 until november, now i am down to 14.5. So believe it or not, you're getting better than most of us.

Winter blend (oxygenated), but also just the colder weather, and throw in lower tire pressures too. Brrrrr....

Yea, wee see about 14-15 city 16-18 ish freeway .... best I ever saw was 19 on the freeway ....

I was able to eek out consistent high 13's (13.6-.8 ) into low 14's this weekend on an interstate trip to and from connecticut. This was traveling @ a corrected speed of roughly 69-72mph.

06, nismo intake, gibson exhaust, yakima rack & 32.7" tires @ 35~36psi

Good God, only high 13mpg numbers -- I have a stock 06' S model w/ 245/75/16 tires and am getting 21+mpg on the highway at those speeds.

Have you checked highway mileage at each mod to see where you were losing efficency?

Unfortunately no. Everything was done basically at once. The rack was on within days of having the path. That device right there is what I believe is the worst offender. I may resort to removing it while not absolutely required. But I did very little sustained highway driving to get good numbers from until the past trip.

But the MPG doesn't really bother me. If it were sub-10 I would feel different because the tank wouldn't be large enough for what I need. I bought the Path for the utility and for weekend excursions. I rarely drive it during the week and sometimes not even on the weekends. I've had it for well over 3 months and its just barely broken 2000 miles because of the trip to CT. I am betting gas mileage will improve at-least some as all the tolerances start to loosen up.

I guess you use the Murano most of the time. I test drove one a few years back, but I couldn't get over the clam shell front end. The cvt was just wierd. It was kind of an insane night at Cherry Hill Nissan, with people buying cars right off the showroom floor. You should have seen them try and squeeze an Armada out of the double doors.

Actually the Murano is the wifes. It'll be a cold day in hell when she lets me finally drive that thing.

I inherited her old Sentra. My old beater was on its last legs, bought the Path when I only had a 5 mile commute to work, she liked it so much she fell in love with the Murano and bought that just after I switch jobs to north philly. So now I beat her old car up on my commute, she drives 2~ miles to work in the Murano and the Path sits for our trips.

That would have been something to see. When I was in working my deals with the Path there were so many damn buyers, each all signing papers and what not. And I've gotten used to the CVT. But put it in something smaller like a Sentra and it's jerky when getting off and on the throttle. The weight of the Murano smooths it out.

I'm at 29,700 now... I have a 7 mile commute to work (one way) so during the work week If I drive it like a grandma I can squeeze 14-15mpg. On longer trips highway I can get 18-19 hovering between 67-73 (not an easy task for me). Its a shame, I used to get 2mpg better on average until I had the VIAS bulletin work done (I could have lived with the rattle).
my record best was driving around NH VT backroads 2 months ago (no lights or stop signs) at 45-55mph and I got 23.3mpg
I'm driving a 05 XE 4x4 so I have the sickley little 245 75r16, A real shame since they are probably only good through this winter (since it doesn't seem like there will be one here this year) and when I replace them I'll be going to either 265-70r16 or the equivilent diameter on a 18" rim.
Otherwise I'm right there with you guys if I drive "being myself" I average 13-16 depending on how much extra highway I tack on.

sure beats the 11mpg I got towing an enclosed 6x12 full of dirtbikes and camping gear from CT to WV this summer (if you tow GET the Air-Lift kit, worth every penny and a breeze to install)

I tow a 4000+ pound 22' deck boat with a lot of wind drag in the summer (bought the Pathy in May and towed about 2500 miles before it got cold) and find that even w/ that big trailer I get 11-11.6mpg on the highway at 65 with the cruise on (4th gear). One lake I go to is all back roads, speeds 60-40mph, no lights. I get 14-14.5 here in 4th, obviously no cruise. That's why I was confused by blink's numbers. I'm not too far off of them, even with a big load on the back.

BTW -- the Air-lift is sitting under my Christmas tree right now (from the wife).

I am pretty convinced that rack shaves off a good 2mpg. And I don't drive with a heavy foot per-say. I'll get on it if i need to get around some yahoo but otherwise its as steady as possible. And my math was bit off, I averaged 69-75 during that CT trip. I'll see if the numbers change, i'll be towing a trailer up and down the same route this weekend.
