Oil Change Interval

I took a quick look at the maintenance section of the manual and didn't see the recommended oil change interval listed . I was probably looking in the wrong spot and didn't have a chance to finish searching for it. The dealer told me it was every 3750 miles when I purchased. Is that the recommended interval? I have the V6.

The book and dealer said it was every 7500 miles on my '06 ... Thats what Alldata shows also for the '08 ..... No way I would ever go that far ... we do ours every 3000-4000 miles ...

It's 7,500 miles for the normal interval, and 3,750 for the severe use interval.

ditto.

I had an oil analysis done on Mobil 1 5W-30 after 6,000 miles (truck had 17k at the time) and it showed that it could probably go another few thousand, based on the TBN. Now I have 53k miles, and I'll probably take my next oil change to 7,500 and do another analysis.

The only way to know for sure is to have an oil analysis done with your oil, your truck, your driving habits, and your environment. I'd recommend Blackstone Laboratories.

I read it somewhere before that most cars/trucks fall into "severe" use because our daily stop-and-go (like stopping at a traffic light and/or stop sign, etc.) driving is considered as severe (and you don't necessarily have to be in the traffic). I'd imagine very few vehicles on the road are driven as "normal" since that means the vehicles pretty much strictly stay on the highway.

Old thread bump. Are most people sticking around the 3750 oil change interval? We are getting the basic oil change package from the dealer for now so I'm sure they use bulk oil and Nissan filters.

I'm using Mobil 1 and sticking to the 7,500 interval until warranty is up. I may go to 10k at that point. If using the dealer oil (non-synthetic) I would probably go 5k miles. 3,750 is overkill unless you're towing or doing tons of idling/stop-go.

+1. With a 7,500 mile interval, I can knock out the oil and tire rotation at the same time.

For those going up to 7500 or 10K on full synthetic are you replacing the filter halfway?

I go to service in every 15 000km or once a year as shown in manual. Engine oil change is part of every service. The manual says that you need to only check the oil level (not to change it) in every 5 000 km.
Transmission oil change interval is 60 000 km
I have 4.0 V6

I stick to the 3,750 mile interval. I don't ever want to run into an issue with the warranty and have them say the oil wasn't changed at the correct interval according to the manufacturers recomendation.

Thats regular! For our diesels and petrols V6 we change every 9300 miles. Less than that is not needed? This even in the manual. For "severe" conditions they recommend 4700 miles. Normal Castrol Magnatec
