Postby fangars » Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:36 pm

If anyone wants in on this, here is the link from which I got the quote.
ClubFrontier has a few who are in as well as some of the Xterra folks over at thenewX.

Alright...the group buy for full aluminum griffin radiators is a go.

http://www.griffinrad.com/

so we sent them a radiator a couple weeks ago. they received the radiator we sent. After talking to Benji at Griffin, his impressions are that this is basically the same radiator Nissan uses in the GTR, except ours is just bigger. They already produce one for the GTR, so making one for us shouldn't be an issue. He also stated that a radiator produced by them for us should easily handle 1000hp...not that any of us are ever going to see those #'s. All radiators from Griffin will come with a 2yr warranty.

Pricing -

If we can get 10 people (achieved) - it will be $595

If we can get 20 people, that comes down to $500.

Here's the number so far. If i missed you on the list, post up.

2. jhughes3281
3. 4xer
4. CoastGuardZ

If you haven't been following the GB Feeler, and you want one, post up. I'll try to stay on top of things and update this daily.

I know it's not cheap, but good quality craftsmanship has it's cost (and aluminum isn't cheap these days).

I'll be talking to Griffin again on Thursday. If you have any specific questions, let me know. I'll also be inquiring about a possible e-fan/shroud combo that would fit the radiator to take place of the mech fan.

ETA - i'm going to see what kind of deadline they're willing to give us. I'm going to ask for atleast the end of January. I'll know more on Thurs.

Updated the list this morning. We need 6 more to bring it down to $500...and over a month to do it (hopefully)

Is the trans cooler still in their design for the pathy? Has anyone explored the aftermarket for an all aluminum radiator that is already being built? I'm a newby, to the site and to Pathfinders in general. Thanks for answering....

hey folks!

I'm the one that pretty much took the lead on this group buy. Griffin will be offering 2 models - one with a trans cooler, and one without. AFAIK, there aren't any other companies producing an aftermarket full aluminum radiator for us at this point - which is why we went to Griffin in the first place. This group buy will be closing at the beginning of next week (1/31). If you want one, post up!

I did not order one as yet.

I would follow the original GB link and see if that helps.

Has anyone change their fan clutch to electric while doing this upgrade?

I've never seen one out there. Do you have a link?

One of the benefits of the viscous clutch used on the pathy is that its variable. I would imagine an electromagnetic clutch would be off/on, or at best off/slip/on.

Not sure how I feel about that.
