My new-used Path has a "Service Engine Soon light"

Postby Sinistersohl » Tue Jan 10, 2012 11:15 am

I just bought my Pathfinder this past weekend. Its an '05 with over 150k miles and the MIL was already on. Autozone pulled the codes with very limited additional information.

P1273- sensor lean shift detected, probable cause; failed AF sensor, vacuum leak in engine or fuel injector/pressure regulator fault.

P0430- catalyst system efficiency below threshold- bank2, probable cause; large vacuum leak, fuel system fault, ignition system fault, failed bank2 catalytic converter.

The issue that concerns me the most is that the oil pressure gauage in the dash is maxed out. There is no loss of performence or any symptoms. I really like the truck, its new to me and I just came back from Afghanistan. If you saw it inside and out you would never suspect anything was wrong, its super clean. Please let me know if any of you have had something similar happen.

First, welcome to the forum!

I have no direct experience with either of the codes you mentioned but the P0430 is very common with these Pathfinders. So you should be able to dig up some info by seaching on this forum. Here's a couple to get you started.

I have the same issue with my oil pressure guage being maxed out. It's been doing it for a couple of weeks (about 500 miles). From what I can tell from looking at my car and discussing this on the forum is that the oil pressure sending unit is faulty and the oil pressure guage is not right. See thread below

Thanks deermjd for replying and for the helpful links! Have you fixed your oil pressure issue?

Im going to replace the sending unit and O2 this long weekend (MLK Day!) and let everyone know how it goes.

I will be replacing it in the next week or so. It's not a major concern but I would like for my gauge to work again so I can know if something actually is off with the oil pressure.
