2005 Nissan pathfinder dis engage sound

Hello,

My 05 pathfinder sometimes when I am driving as it goes through its gears, I sometimes here a disengage sound. almost a clunk sound. Only happens sometimes.

Any Ideas ?

If you haven't done the trans bypass and still have the original radiator, I would start by checking the fluid for signs of coolant contamination. Next, I would look at the driveshaft U-joints and the engine mounts. If you notice it over bumps as well, check the body mount bushings.

i have 118000 KM on it and my warranty ext is good till March. I will do the by pass after.

recently change transmission fluid and it was clean.

I have an 06 Pathfinder..I done the bypass last year sometimes..just changed ATF...trans shifts smooth even at 40-50 mph. But when at slow speeds like crusing through my subdivisioin and coming to a stop, I feel a steady low rumble. Had tires balanced and rotated..drive to twist both front and rear driveshafts and no play.

Any suggestions?

It's difficult to diagnose a problem if one cannot experience it for oneself. The best thing to do would be to find someone with an 05-07 Pathy that would let you take it for a ride to give you a point of comparison. Road surfaces make a big differance. On the highways and interstates, my 06 LE rides great, but on the side roads where I live in VA, the ride can be a bit rough and unsettled. I'm sure the type of tire makes a big differance, as well. The Michelin LTX M/S2's on my 06 ride a lot better than the BFG's on my friend's 08 Pathy. Keeping the tires inflated to Nissan's recommendations and not over-inflating them will make a big differance.The rear shocks on our Pathys are also a weak point; monotube shocks like Bilstein HD's or Monroe Reflex are a far better option.

Hi Guys,

Just an update, took my car into the Nissan Dealership and they found that my transmission fluid and Rad were contaminated.

They replaced the Rad and a Brand New transmission from Nissan. This was a RE and RE.

Cluck is gone, Gear shift super smooth.

Very happy now....

No need to do the by pass anymore.
