Consult performance tool

Postby Gray » Wed Apr 02, 2008 7:48 pm

From the NissanConsult website;

"Consult-III supports all 2007 and newer (Nissan and Infinity) vehicles
Consult-II supports all models through 2006 and other models"

...so I phoned them to find out if the 2007 PF's with a build date in 2006 are Consult III supported...never did get the answer to that one but the tech support guy had some interesting comments on the dealership model of C-III; ie: that a Nissan tech who knows what he's doing and within certain Nissan factory specs may be able 'tweak the EMC', maybe by adjusting the timing or having the engine stay in closed loop more for example for some additional fuel economy. :)

Is this software available to us consumers?

I have gotten a ODB2-interface, but I'm looking for a good program to read out values :)

It's more than just software. It is a portable computer to diagnose, analyze and change settings in Nissan vehicles. It's not cheap like a code reader. If you have a lot of friends with Nissan's, maybe you could pool money together, but unless you have a lot of extra cash, it's not worth getting one.

Here's one that I've read does many similar functions to Nissan Consult III;

http://www.autoenginuity.com/

and here is the Nissan specific support which is sold at an extra charge above the base package;

I would contact them first to confirm that the program can be used to modify specific vehicle settings such as timing, etc.

I've read that some Frontier guys with VQ40's are running an Osirus program, but I don't see anything on the web page;

Basicly though the Nissan specific tuning tools are already built for the 05+ VQ40's by Tech-Mate, talk to Gary at NissanConsult;

Aftermarket non-dealership private use Consult II...part no: J-44200 $6907

Aftermarket non-dealership private use Consult III...part no: J-47446-AM $5700 (including Panasonic Toughbook laptop)

Gary tells me the only difference between the dealership and non-dealership version is that the key coding information has been removed from the aftermarket private use Consult tools, but one can reset anything else such as AFR settings, timing, etc...

OTC Tools Genisys with the Asian software package ( page 8 ) also does diagnostics and resets for Nissan EMC's to 2006 or 07;

...and is probably the tool often used when one sends their EMC away to get 'rechipped'. :)
