Cats

Postby NVRDONE » Wed Jul 10, 2013 11:18 am

My cats failed and were replaced at 90k on my 06 pathfinder le. Now at 123k the secondary cat on the right bank is failing. It rattles and the guts are coming loose. No code yet.
If I replace the secondary cats with a test pipe will that set a check engine code? The o2 sensors are before and after the primary cat, so do they monitor the secondary cat some how?
Appreciate any thoughts and input

Your secondary Cats are not monitored. See the link below.

I say cut em out.

So I could just knock the guts out and not have the expense of the replacement pipes. Then it would look like the cats are still there

Yeah I would think so, as long as the casings are sound.

Not that it applies, but there are a couple of companies that make 4 choices if you had the V8.

2.25" and 2.5" with straight pipe or w/HFC's. I'm curious if these units fit the V6, perhaps only those without the y-pipe.

I've got the straight pipe versions of the 2.25" on my V8, no SES lights.

The part number for the second cats on the armada and pathfinder are the same, so I think the replacement pipes would work.
Does anyone know defiantly if the pipes interchange ?

Quite honestly, they look the same.

I'd recommend him, his SN on titantalk is knightowl. He may be able to test fit a local V6 Pathy.

One thing to note is that on the Pathfinder, one of the flanges needs to be rotated in order to line up to the OEM flange.

When I saw the title, I thought it was going to be a thread full of this:
