Overheating when AC turned on ?

Postby Pathfinder101 » Wed Aug 28, 2013 11:10 am

Recently started having issue with the path overheating when AC is on it has a new last year Rad and Thermostat. Happens more on city driving not as bad on hwy temp drops when AC turned off. The fans are working any ideas before I bring to a shop. I do need to change my VBC as the interior front blower occasionally will stop working also.
Thank for any help.

Its that time of year! Usually I find mine in winter, when I suddenly have no heat in the rear of the vehicle.

No leaks, it seems to evaporate.

Update : turns out coolant was low very low took a little over a gallon to fill up the radiator don't know where it went no visible leaks and entire cooling system was worked on last July ?
So far back to normal operating temp. Also replaced the VBC and AC works when I want it to not when it feels like it
Thanks for the help

I've had the same issue. No leaks or coolant smells coming from anywhere. Some here have suggested it evaporated, which is possible over time I suppose.

Glad you got it sorted out.

The coolant system is a closed system and shouldn't be evaporating. Is the system wasn't serviced recently, in which case it might have been underfilled, inspect the lines to the rear heating unit, which have had some issues with leaks.
