Looking to Turbo my 4 liter Pathfinder-Question

Postby Fear » Wed Oct 23, 2013 8:23 am

Hello guys. I am knew and kind of a HP Junkie. I am looking to have a custome turbo kit built and wanted to ask whats the limit RWHP wise for a stock motor? I have heard different rules for these motors, but wanted your advise. I am looking to be around 450-500 RWHP. THanks

VQ's typically handle boost quite well, but as they get bigger, their stroke gets longer and in turn limits their HP capability. I'd start with a different platform personally.

Even a V8 would be a better baseline for HP. There are plenty of Titan guys in that area.

Who told you that? "Well above" seems excessive. I've seen VQ35's close to 500, but that was and would be pushing it. The design of the VQ40 wasn't designed tor high PSI/forced induction or high revs for NA power, it's based more on torque, kind of like a truck motor should be.

There's a severely overpriced stroker kit for the VQ35, which brings displacement to 4.1 or 4.3 if I remember correctly. I would check and see if anyone has added FI for one of those kits to see what kind of power they're putting out.

Here we go:

Stillen makes a supercharge kit for the V6 Pathy if you have just under 5-grand burning a hole in your pocket!

I'd say this is the better bet vs going custom turbo.
