Keyless start / entry

Postby Felstmiester » Mon May 11, 2015 12:59 pm

Hi
I just purchased a 05 with keyless go. Can someone explain to me how the entry works? I've been locking unlocking by getting key out my pocket and pressing buttons on fob. Apparently the car should unlock and lock as long as key is in pocket or whatever. Sorry for the ignorance. Tried searching but couldn't find an answer. Thanks in advance.

That depends very much on the make/model/features of your aftermarket alarm. There is no universal answer.

The factory Nissan system (called Intelligent Key) wasn't available until 2008 on the Pathfinder. "Keyless Go" is what Mercedes calls their system. I'm not sure what you have so it's hard to diagnose anything.

I'm guessing you're in UK or somewhere with a RHD? That's not anything like any Nissan factory system here in the state's.....so I guess I'm out. No clue what you have there.

I assume no manual in the car? It would be helpful to know if this is factory or aftermarket.

Yes. Uk right hander. Yes it's deff a factory job. And as said the entry didn't come till 08 so at least I know I haven't got that option. Just wondered what the buttons are for on the handles.

After much searching. The buttons on the doors are for the ikiey entry. As long as you have the key in your pocket you should be able to walk up to car, press the button on the door handle and it automatically unlocks the door. This was an option before 08 apparently. Only thing is the buttons on mine don't work! None of them work on any of the doors. After another search, it seems you can turn this ikey door locking system off/on in the vehicle settings menu. Great I thought!!! That must mean it's set to off on my car so all I've got to do is go into vehicle settings menu and switch it on. Only problem is, I can't get any vehicle settings menu up on the screen??? Searched and searched but can't find an answer.

I have this on my car, all you need is the key in your pocket, and like the other guy said press the button on the handle to unlock the car, this also works on the passenger side and also the boot! Press the little chrome button on the outside of your boot to unlock your car, quite handy when you have shopping etc when you don't want to get the key out of your pocket! You need never get your keys out agin! :) mine is a 2005 t-spec 4.0v6 in the UK

There's something called anti hijack with this system maybe that's why yours doesn't work, I don't know how or where you turn it off tho :(

Managed to get hold of a owners manual. Haven't tried it yet but apparently your press both buttons on the fob simultaneously for 5 secs to turn anti hijack on or 10 secs to turn it off. I'll give it a try later.

That's sounds like it :) let me know if you get it working, I think it's quite handy apart from on mine every door works except from the drivers side! Typical! But I use the boot to open my car usually, putting tho dog in the back.
