help with aftermarket headlight

Postby Frozen » Wed Jan 11, 2012 6:43 pm

I brought these aftermarket projector headlights.

The issue I'm having is the turn signals are different. This is the factory triangle plug

And this is the plug the aftermarket lights came with.

I can't find plug or sockets for either. I looking to make a adaptor to leave the factory harness untouched. Any idea on where to source these plugs and sockets?

Have no idea on where to source the plugs or sockets. However like FindyourPath asked, we both see you have an 08 Pathfinder. Have you checked to see if the headlamps fit? The 2005-2007 Headlamps don't fit the 2008-2010 pathfinders. If they do fit, where did you buy them?

Those look like the lights I have, although mine aren't black. As asked, where did you buy them from? They may have said/listed it as 2005+, but so far there are no light options for 2008+. On my '07, all of the plugs were correct & the same as those on the headlights.

The problem with these on a 2008+ is that they will not line up with the mounting points. Close, but just a tease.

The mounting holes did not line up perfect but could get bolts in them all. The fit looked right. I'm waiting on a Frontier Upper bumper so when that arrives I'll mount the lights and bumper and see how the fit is. I'll do a full right up with pics and post it on here.

Got the lights from carid.com

Dang. :( I was hoping you would have found a place that actually made headlamps for the 2008 + pathfinders that we would not have to modify.

I didn't modify the headlights at all(yet lol). Just had to push the mounting tabs over just a little bit with my hand. The only issue so far is the different turn signals.

well got some work done on the lights. Have some fitting issues. See pics below. And where the grill mounts to the inside of the lights will have to be modified. It is possible to make these work but it will def take some time. I haven't completely given up yet but I am looking into a local company retrofitting projectors into the stock housing.

Here you can see how the top mounts don't line up. The inner mount can be easily pushed over to fit, but depending on final fitment I may use a self taper instead of pushing the mounting tab over.

Here you can see the fitment issue around the outer corners. By pushing on the housing I could get this corner just about perfect.

This is the biggest issue. The aftermarket headlights seem to not be a deep as the stock headlights. I can fab new mounting points but not sure its worth it yet.

Haven't decided what to do yet. Have to see what the local retrofitter comes up with. I really want black housings so have to see what they can do.

My first thought was to find a 07 or earlier grill and see it that will fit with the headlight and the frontier upper bumper.

The earlier R51's are actually a little shorter than the laters (they changed around 07 or 08). Earlier R51's have a flatter front; Nissan pulled the nose out a little on the later R51's.

Looks like you are messing with lights designed for 05-07 models. It will be hard to make it look and work right. I had 06 and later changed to 2010 and yes the fornt end is different - new hood, bumper, lights and grill (not sure about fenders). Lights no only have a diffrent curvature but slightly different shape as well. If you go with Frontier front bumper, it still does not solve your problem with lights fitting with the hood, grille and possible fenders. Good luck with it and keep us posted.
