the nature of the repair depends on the specific problem..........
is the spring missing, bent, deformed, broken, incorrectly installed?

How would you go about fixing this if the spring is missing?

I'd replace the missing spring with a new one

Spring is still there don't think its bent but I'm not sure what to look for as I can't remember how it is supposed to look. What have others done to fix this with scoring still in tact?

What I meant was where would I get the spring from, besides the stealership?

Try this thread, the second post is a picture of the spring.

 because of prices, I generally try to avoid the stealership, too!
this part, however, is less than 4 bucks from at least one dealership that I researched (Courtesy Parts in Texas)
I doubt there is an aftermarket replacement available
the only other source that comes to mind would be a salvage yard

Never mind, the spring was blended in with my black Pathy. It's still there. :D
