Side step mouting points, studs?

Postby simpledecals » Sun Sep 28, 2014 12:04 pm

Anybody know if the mounting point for the side steps are removable and replaceable studs? I broke one of them due to over tightening. Please advise.

I remember on older Pathfinders, we would use a wire to route the bolts through the frame from an opening in the frame, when installing running boards. I doubt that's the way the R51 does it. I would try tapping on the broken stud with a hammer and see if it will punch through. Watch the other stud because the studs "may" be attached to a plate inside the frame. If it won't push through, I would guess your next step would be to cut the stud flat, drill out a hole and tap it and install a stud and nut or use a bolt.
