V6 mpg vs V8 mpg?

Postby rangeoflight32 » Fri Jun 03, 2016 4:23 am

I'm shopping for a 2011 or 2012 pathfinder 4wd and wasn't really looking for a V8 but one popped up in a search I ran and wondering if it would be a good option.

I don't have anything to tow right now but could see getting a travel trailer someday. And just seems good to have more power.

However how much worse is the MPG for V8 vs V6?

Not much worse from the reviews i have seen.
If price isnt an issue i would recomend the V8.

Agreed, get the V8 if you can afford it. I own a V8 and drive a V6 on occasion; the V8 is a better experience all around.

I get about 18 mpg on a 5 hour trip to the beach and 16 mpg in rush hour traffic on the DC beltway. A loaded roof rack robs about 1.5 mpg on the highway but interior payload weight seems to have very little effect.

I have the v6, and I get 21 mpg on the highway, and 17 in the city. That being said, it also has great power and is very responsive to the pedal.
