I havent found a custom grill for my P-finder that I like yet. I actually like the style of the stock one BUT I didnt like all the chrome. the Armada and Xterra have painted grills that match the exterior color. So, after an EBAY purchase of a used grill, alot of sanding and painting, here are the results.

Looks good BMX, I saw similar on another site and am going to do the same.
It's also a good plan to collect a few of the extra parts when the price is right,
a set of lights for four corners, starter, injectors, grill insert, etc.

Which way are you going on the rear door latch cover, black or body color?

That looks really good. What paint did you use and what steps did you take?

I like that better than the chrome. It does look stock and the casual observer probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

The grill comes apart in basically 3 pieces.
The logo, the chrome frame, and the black mesh.
There are about 6 screws on the backside that hold the chrome and mesh together, along with a bunch of snap together clips.
After removing the screws, I carefully separated the clips.

I used 180 grit sand paper to rough up the chrome surface. This wasnt too difficult. It was just time consuming. It was a tedious task to get in all the little bends and corners.

Then I primered it with self-etching primer. Just regular spray can stuff.

A friend of mine who does auto painting, painted it with Sikkins acrylic/ urethane. Then he cleared it with 3 coats of urethane clear coat.
