R51 Lift gate 2011 Problem?

Postby lazyj » Wed Nov 21, 2012 4:39 pm

Just got a 2011 Pathy LE and comparing to my son's 2008, I have a lift gate latch problem...maybe
On the 2008, bring the lift gate close to the latch and a motor will smoothly lock the gate. On my 2011, it slams just like my 2000 Xterra. Is this right?
Thanks for your help..

Not sure about your issue, but here is a related post:

I have the same issue with my 2011 LE. But not only does it slam shut, but it does not open all the way. When I open the hatch I have to push it up to get it all the way open. Really annoying. I saw some threads about getting aftermarket struts but I am a rookie at this and am not sure exactly the right size to get. If you find anything keep me posted.

McMaster struts are the way to go

Just put on new McMaster struts. Follow the instructions on these links (links to parts included). Done in 20 mins.
