2008-2012 Front Bumper, Headlights Grill on a 2005-2007

Postby Kevykevhid » Wed Jan 02, 2013 6:34 pm

Hello Path owners, I have a 2005 LE.

Just had a quick question. I'm somewhat partial to the 08+ front. Are the parts a direct swap or is there modification needed.

Thanks!

I doubt it would work.

I don't think it will work either. The 2010+ front end is "pointy-er" if you look at side profile shots between the two. The 2005 front is boxed and slops down.

08+ actually is when the facelift happened. the 08+ headlights will definitely not fit the older models.

Historically I've seen "conversions" like this done (on other vehicles). Usually the manufacturers don't change too much in order to keep the production costs low.

I know 05-12 fenders are the same so that gives me some hope. We'll see.

I would be surprised if the fenders are truly the same. I had headlamps that fit '05-'07 i was trying to install on my '08 and the angle where they lined up with fender didn't look right. It may have just been because the top frame where the lights mount was a different shape...but overall the headlights were off a solid inch in size/shape to fit mine. I have also seen a lot of similar part #'s crossing the years that I know there were changes. Go look at aftermarket headlights, grilles, and radiators...many say they fit '05-'12 but obviously will not. I have no doubt you could make it work...but I dont' see it being a direct bolt-on.

Good point its not always good to rely on a cross ref. The angle of the front fascia is wider on the 08+ models. See... I just have a crack on my front bumper and I guess im looking for an excuse to do an update. :D

This is possible, but cost prohibitive. Here is a link to a Russian pathfinder forum, where the guy who did this swap did a nice write up: http://www.club-nissan.ru/forums/showth ... p?t=206500
He replaced hood, bumper, lights, grill and all the brackets for bumper and lights. Fenders were the same. Dong this would only make sense when fixing your front end after a crash, etc... Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.
