Putting Foam Cleaner in the AC

Hi,

I have a 2006 Pathfinder SE 4x4. My ac smells very moldy and I've read several threads on here about that common issue. To try and remedy it, I bought a can of Kool-It spray foam cleaner. My question is, do I just put this stuff in the ac through the drain tube or would it be more effective to remove the cabin filters and spray the foam in through the cabin air intake?

Have you looked into changing your cabin air filter? It could be clogged with debris which is giving you the bad smell.

Yes, I've changed both in-cabin filters.

If you've changed the filters, then you could try the spray cleaner. I've never used that type of product before, so I can't tell you if it worked or not. To me it sounds like there is moisture somehow in the ducts that is causing the smell. Try the foam and see if it kills whatever could possibly be in the ducts.

My question is, can I spray the foam into the cabin air filter box directly if I remove the filters.

You could possibly do that. I'd read the can and find out what they recommend. If it was me, I'd take the cabin air filters out and then spray the stuff from the engine side so that you kill anything that might be in front of the filters and then it will also go past the filters since you removed those.
