rear drum breaks may be going?

So I have a 97' pathfinder. If your driving down the road sometimes you will hear this high pitched squeling noise. It almost sounds like there is a midget hiding under the car blowing on a clarinet but he can only play one note. I'm pretty sure its not the disc breaks because I did a visual inspection on them and there seems to be plenty of break pads left. Its hard to tell where its coming from and the midget only plays his clarinet when hes in the mood. he doesn't play all the time. has anyone else had this experience?

When is the last time you cleaned your car? It could just be excessive brake dust that's why it only happens randomly.

However with that said, 30 minutes to jack up the rear end, take of the tires and do a brake inspection would be well worth the peace of mind that your brakes are ok.

Ya I will probably get inside those drums sooner than later.
