needing new tires

Postby Xterror04 » Wed Jul 24, 2013 6:13 pm

Looking for some new tires, Stock size 265/65/17

First question is next weekend we are picking up a boat, its a 18 ft glastron fish and ski, so we will be towing it on the weekends, will this require a heavier duty sidewall?

Right now im considering cooper a/t3, toyo a/t 2, and kumho road venture sat kl61

the pathy is pretty much just used on pavement, but in iowa we hav lots of snow in the winter..

so what do you all recommended?

I have a set of Michelin LTX M/S2's on my 06 Pathy and love them! If you need more of an all-terrain tire, there's the LTX A/T2's. Tirerack.com has pretty good reviews and ratings of tires that might be of assistance to you. Prices, however, can be good or not so good when you add up the shipping, so price around. I compare with Tirebuyer.com and DiscountTireDirect.com.

Also running the Michelin LTX MS2's. Got 50k miles out of the last set and could have gone a lot longer but I don't run them all the way out. Running an AT in the winter is a compromise between snow and ice, but I lean more towards performance on dry/wet roads which is the vast majority of driving. You won't need a heavier tire for towing that load.

Your coopers only lasted. Year and a half? How Many miles?

Since I'm mostly on pavement, I'm considering these Hankook Dynapro HT RH12.

I'm running the toyo at2 and loving them. Quiet, great in the rain, and come with a 65k mile warranty.

General Grabber AT2 would be my choice!!! It is awesome in any weather! This is my second set owning the tires and it has been proven through snow storms, rain and floods. It looks awesome on the truck also!

Just replaced my LTX's yesterday with another set of LTX MS2's. At 50K miles they had nearly half their tread still left, but one had cracked near the bead (the truck sat over a year in my parents' garage while I was overseas) so I replaced them all.

Not the best for mileage (best I've seen is 19.6 mpg vs. 21 for the OEM BF Goodriches, which otherwise stunk) but unstoppable in dirt and snow.

my mistake, it was the HT, not AT3s. But regardless, its a 60K mile tire, and I maybe got 20-30K out of them.

I've got the General Grabbers in 258/75/16 now and LOVE em. not to mention it makes the truck look pretty bad ass :)

I just got my Goodyear dura tracs installed today and I absolutely love them. I went with 285/70/17. Had to do a little trimming because i rubbed at full turn. But they give the truck a completely different look. I'l try to figure out how to upload pics tomorrow.

How are these tires for road noise? How many miles did you get on your first set? What size do you run? Lots of snow?

I had the Toyo ATII's and I can say that they are good on and off the road. Also, I really like their great traction on wet roads.
