Looking for data here on how many total failures have happened, and how many transmissions have been saved by the Bypass Fix.

I have a 98 pathfinder that just had the tranny rebuilt last week, it lasted 200 miles or less.

Wifey called me about 3 hours ago & she's stranded on the side of the road about 35 miles from home, we've made arrangments to have it towed to the repair shop...again.

It started out as a small bump when the torque converter locked up, mite do it once or do it a dozen times, didnt take long to kill the tranny.

Whats the fix guys, this is new to me so I thought I find a Pathfinder forum & try for some info before I spend another $1,200.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry FOX FIRE, this whole Nissan Transmission failure thing due to radiators breaking is the late model R51 Pathfinders and related trucks.

"My transmission is a-ok, no Bypass, fingers crossed!"
WOW 60%
must be a lot of low mileages and/or extended warranties..........

Well I figured since I'm still under that extended warranty from Nissan.what's the point of doing the bypass. I did actually do it originally but I undid it because I'd rather hereto that extra cooling power since there are allot of hills in Hawaii. More like mountains, but tomato tomato. Lol

Yup, I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone do it before they're out of warranty. It might even help extend the life of your transmission by warming the fluid up to operating temperature faster...right up until it fails and frags the whole works up

mine are by-passed prior to extended warranty expiration simply because i will avoid dealership service departments at all costs.
i've had horrid experiences at dealerships (incomplete and botched work, poor documentation, damage to my trucks (yes, both of them), and all the peripheral aggravation that goes along with all that.
there's no way i'd want a dealership to do something as extensive as a transmission replacement.
they can't even get a fluid change right  .
i'll stick with the by-passes, thank you!

This is not good news. I have an 08 LE V8. I had yet to see a failure on an 08 and even a V8 and now your single post has elimintated both points I was using to not do the bypass.

Volvite, his looks to be a defect in the transmission and not due to coolant contamination. Look at his previous posts.

The failure is not Radiator related. I am also not keen YET of doing the by pass :))

Maintaining the V8 version is really a challenging task in this part of the world. Afaik, i am the only one Qatar, if not in the whole GCC region, having this model.
