Heat help

My friend just called me he has a 2008 Pathfinder with the V6 I think it's an SE model .. Anyway his heat keeps kicking in and out it starts out fine and hot then goes cold then if he hits a bump it will go hot for a while again? Any advice?

Do some digging across this site and it sounds like one of two possible things.

1) Check the level of the coolant both in the radiator and in the supplemental bottle. Mine was a little low and would blow cold air when stopped for a while. Corrected the level and all good now.

2) Some have reported that the cooling system is prone to air being introduced and you can "burp" the system. From what I've read, some have pulled the front of the vehicle up on ramps, opened up the radiator (when COLD of course!!), and let the vehicle run for @ 20 mins or so.
