Has anyone tried this with an 08 5.6L? If so, what are your thoughts/experiences?

I've read about a 2° advance on the VQ40 V6 as well but most post that it gives a mid rpm performance boost with a subsequent gasoline fuel economy loss. On the 09 PF's maybe the advance has already been done as the fuel recommendation for the 09's has been changed to 91 AKI gasoline only.

The local dealership will do a 2° timing advance or retard for free as it only takes a few minutes to get it done.

Things must be different in the 49th state. In New Jersey, stealerships would charge you full PAR rate for the adjustment, even if it was done in conjunction with other under-hood services. Every procedure gets charged its full, separate rate. That is why service techs in NJ are able to bill, on average, 3x the number of hours they actually work. This is more than empirical knowledge; I have family in the business (but, unfortunately, not with a Nissan franchise).
