new tailgate springs?

Postby jefbarn » Tue Dec 16, 2008 12:15 pm

I've noticed that my tailgate is getting sort of...droopy...lately. Does anyone know the best place to get some replacements for stock shock/springs? Be nice to get some that are a little more powerful...like jump out of the way when you open the door. :D

If your Pathfinder is still under warranty, I suppose you can take it to the dealer to have them replaced. Mine is a 2008, and the rear lift gate is starting to show signs of droopage too.

My 05 rear lift support only sags when its really cold outside. Other than that they work fine.

I've noticed that my tailgate droops really bad when its cold outside too. Is this normal or should I bring it to Nissan?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Unfortunately, my warranty expired a few months back, so I'm on my own with this one. And it's definitely not bad enough the pay the dealer to fix it.

Mine started doing it last year around this time and the deal replaced them under warranty. If you're out of warranty, buy the lift supports online at Courtesy Parts or enissanparts...I haven't looked but I can't imagine that they're difficult to install.

Thanks, I'll try that route.

FYI, ordered the part from Courtesy...

Same here. Mine sags when cold or when snow is on it. My truck only has 3000 mi on it.

I found out mine sags too in -10 celsius, but seems to work fine in -5.

I asked the dealer service rep about it and he said there is nothing they can do about it as the gas simply becomes too dense and 'shrinks' thus there is not enough resistance to hold up the door.

Anyone know of any better aftermarket ones available?

Good as new. Thanks guys.

Cool, my glass supports are getting weak too (smashed my head the other day), so I'll probably put those on the list. Hopefully they're as easy to replace.
