Nissan Battery Life

Postby twinblown » Wed Jul 15, 2009 2:46 pm

I was wondering what kind of life has everyone else experienced out of the original Nissan battery, I am currently on my 4th year with my 05 Path and still holding up. Usually any battery over 4 years old should be replaced just to be on the safe side. One of these days

Can't say much about the Nissan battery yet. But my Dodge is on 5 yrs and still good, from what I have read in the past most OEM batteries last approx. 5-6 yrs. some have gotten 7-8 yrs. Colder air temps take a toll on the battery.

I think you have it reversed.... heat is far harder on an automotive battery than cold. In winter here we get -40 (its the same in C and F at that temp!) and the battery in my 98 civic lasted 6 winters, failed in summer.

hi ambient temps are a battery's enemy.

Mine got noticeably weaker after 3.5 years, replaced it proactively to avoid getting stranded.

I did the same thing this summer on my 05. The stock battery would die if I left the interior lights on more than 10 minutes with the truck off.

Had to change my stock battery after 8 months, the Middle east temperatures took their toll, replacement has done 26 months and still feels good.
Have got a yellow-top optima in my Patrol, been there 18 months and is very very good, will get one for the Pathy once the current one fails.

She's a daily driver and completly stock (no add on amps, remote starters, dvd players, etc). I'm going to a red top optima soon since I sell them at work. Employee discount and $25 mail in rebate is hard to pass up :)

I had to replace ours earlier this year. We purchased the truck new in October of 04 as a new 05. I think we got about 52 months on ours before I had to buy one at Sears. Died in the mall parking lot and the Sears was right there.
