thats great. i was thinking of just replacing the one shock for now and then doing the rest later. how do you think that will affect the ride and or wear on the car?

I would replace the shocks as a pair, or all 4 at once, but not one at a time. Presumably if the one side is shot the other is not far behind.
Replacing one may cause the body to lean a little towards the old shock, I could only speculate that this could result in more wear on the weak side , but I don't know that as a fact.

It also depends on how many miles you're planning on driving like this.
If it's only one payday to the next it probably isn't long enough to do any harm.

its more of a time thing. i really dont have the time to do the one so thats why i was going to do just one but doing them in pairs does make more sense. i guess i can try to do them at night but them if something goes wrong theres really no stores open that i can get extra parts from.

Do replace in pairs, if money is somewhat of a problem get a less expensive shock, like Monroe gas shocks. The rears are easy, just need approx 1-1.5 hr of time and be somewhat mechanically inclined. I believe you will need a 1/2 drive 17mm socket, 17mm open-closed wrench,1/2 drive ratchet, 2 inch extension and a breaker bar only if the shocks are the original, meaning the oem shock nuts are on tight.. you will have to remove one wheel at a time to gain easy access to the upper shock bolt head and nut. CAUTION always use a jack stand under frame when removing a wheel, you do not want the vehicle to drop down on ground or on you.

The ride is close to the stock shocks but with a better rebound dampening. Bilsteins are a great shock for the money.
