Auto window roll-down feature

Postby macbell7 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 4:30 am

Does anybody know how to disable this worthless feature that Nissan decided was such a great idea to put on our vehicles. I'm referring to holding down the unlock button on the remote and making the front two windows roll down. While I was getting ready for work I somehow managed to hit it and my windows rolled down while it was monsooning outside. I must've done it right while i was walking out the door cause my interior was not completely soaked, but I was pretty pissed I had to even deal with wet interior at 6 am and cold on top of that. This has got to be the dumbest option to add to a vehicle. Anyone know if I can pull a fuse on this or should I just make the dealer handle it ?

That sucks! i do know the 05's did not have such feature so probably could be disabled in the newer models. In order for the windows to roll down you must press and hold it for like 3-5 seconds. My 06 Quest has this feauture and I like it; down here in the hot summer months I just roll them when approaching the car to get some ventilation before stteping into the 100 plus degree cabin. On the other hand I do find the FOB buttons to be somewhat easy to be pressed in your pocket or by leaning againts somthing, it has happened to me. The bottons should have been more recessed.

I've accidentally rolled down the windows twice now. I've also set off the stupid panic alarm countless times. My only solution has been to pull the key out of the ignition & carry it in my hand for the next 5 minutes or so (or leave it on a desk, etc.). What I will not do is keep the fob in my pocket, since that's when I have always accidentally done something. When I get to work, the keys go on one of my cabinets. If I go to the store, I walk around with the fob in hand for at least 5 minutes, or put it in a jacket pocket-never in one of my shorts' pockets.

I keep meaning to mess around with one of the fobs, but it's pretty low on my list of things to do. I'd like to disable the panic button altogether for one, or maybe see if I can rig a simple hard cover to keep the buttons safe.

Looks like the feature was added in 07, my 06 SE doesn't to it.

There is a way of disabelling it,where we live it reaches 45-50degree celcius in the summer so for us its quite nice to get a bit of ventilation..Read the manual, i saw it somewhere in there..

it is not disable-able. horn beep can be disabled, but there are no instructions in the manual on how to disable the window down feature.

If it was a module or something I could just take off I would happily do it because I have never had the need to want to roll both my front windows down. I've came out of work numerous times and my windows were rolled down all afternoon without me knowing it. I don't work in the safest part of Charlotte so that kinda puts me on edge thinking that could easily happen. I guess my only real solution is to get an aftermarket alarm with remote start which is an option that is useful

It's probably not an option you are even considering, but I don't even carry the Fob, I just use the key.
