Hail Storm Survivor

Postby amr40509 » Wed Jun 06, 2007 5:40 am

Yesterday on my drive home I got hit by a pretty good hail storm (20 min of LOTS of hail, range from 1/4" - 1/2"+ in size).

The good news, NO damage. From talking to some other folks at a gas station it looked like most of them did have some little dimples.

The Patherfinder looks straight and smooth still --- good job Nissan. The pounding on the roof sure was LOUD though!

Yep . . . wash it, dry it, park it in the sun, take a long hard look, and report back.

The good news is, most major insurors "used to" pay hail damage claims based on what it would cost to fill and paint. That's not a repair method I would accept. A few years ago, my Acura TL was in a bad hail storm. My insurance payment was $1300 based on refinishing the hood/trunk/roof. My handy-dandy dent fixer guy charged me $650 to push out the dents, including dropping the headliner to repair the roof. His work was impeccable, and I pocketed the other $650!

Forgot to post a followup after I washed it -- no dents.
