security light

Postby Budrbean » Wed May 05, 2010 9:13 am

Just a quick question. The security light comes on and stays on when I lock the doors to my pathfinder. According to the owners manual it should blink. It does when I first turn it off and remove the key but stays illuminated after I lock the doors. Is this normal?

My '07 has also only blinked since day one. I assume it normally blinks, but I also have never looked it up to confirm.

Nevermind, its blinking now. Guess its stays lit for a few then blinks. I figure until the courtesy light goes off or something. Im just not bored enough to time it. lol

you have until it blinks to open doors and stuff without the anti-theft going off. Depending on your settings, also corresponds to retained power, for rolling up windows and stuff with the key off

As far as I know, I dont have an alarm system or anything. How would I open a door before it starts blinking when the doors are locked already?

if you have your auto lock set, it'll lock after 30s (or whatever you mode is set to), even if your inside with the key out of the ign. You get 30s to roll up windows and stuff (retained pwr), then the light goes steady. If you unlock the door manually to get out or someone breaks the window, or if you lock the door with the windows cracked/down and someone reaches in, the horn will sound and lights blink (no impact sensor from factory). Most of the stuff you can set "modes" which really just alter the timing of stuff. U need the unlock signal from the fob or key to tell the bcm you're the owner.

Are these functions for newer model PF's or does that apply to a 2005 as well?

seems to vary alot....even within same year, different trim levels, etc. US vs. Canadian vs. Euro. Even options like navi, bose etc. Some are excessible via user controls (auto lock while driving for example - by holding lock button). others require the dealer scanner to set bcm configuration. most have modes 1-5, though you have to look in the ESM to see what those modes actually are.
