Geolander A/T or Michelin LTX A/T 2 pictures request

Postby otter712 » Sat May 15, 2010 8:35 am

Hi everyone,

I am a proud new owner of a 2005 silver metallic Pathfinder SE. Original 16 inch rims, just bought 17 inch 6 spoke Nissan rims (ebay, thanks for the tip) and am in the process of researching tires. My 2 preferred possible choices are the Yokohama Geolander (have very good experience with the brand) or recommended to me and also very well rated Michelin LTX A/T 2.

I dont think I can go wrong with either of the 2 and now it comes down to details. 265 v/s 275 or maybe even 285?

In addition if anyone could share some experience on handling, cornering, road noise and wet road performance. 99% will be on highway, sometimes in snow (NE)

Also, as far as aesthetics, which one will look better and please please if available, post some pictures. That would really help.

Thank you so much !!

Ron

some pics of my yokos on this page. so far, i am really happy w/ them. quiet and responsive on the road, never let me down off the road. haven't thrown anything crazy gnarly at them yet, but have run them on lots of different terrain (crazy sharp ass rocks in the desert around lake mead and in death valley, slippery sandstone and tuff around NV, and southern rockies granitic and volcanic stuff)

i'll dig around, might have some more 'action' pics somewhere (not sure that any show the tires per se, tho)

Thank you guinnessjim. I appreciate you going through the effort of posting this. It is amazing how much a picture does. Just staring at a tire in the shop doesn't come close.

Would 275/65 be too big? Diameter is 31.3, so that is only 0.6 taller then factory 265/70. How about the with?

otter, I have the 275-65-17 Yokohama AT-S and love them, they are a little larger in diameter and wider than the 265-65 and look better on the vehicle. fills in the wheelwell opening more. a much better look in my opinion, and a fatter tire always looks better,no matter what.

Kevster. Thank you so much ! That was exactly the info I was hoping to find. Even though the Michelin get a little higher ratings, It doesn't come in the 275 size. Geolander it is! Is there any chance you could post a some pictures? That would be awesome.

Where did you find 275 with? I can find them anywhere. All websites I checked go from 265 to 285. 275 is really what I was hoping to find. Unless 285/70 R18 fits without mods to the wheel well. The diameter is 32.8 though. Even in 16 inch I cant find your size.

im in the UAE, and the size is pretty common here.

size is 275/70/16 and they fit just barely so they dont rub. 285s would not fit on my car without lift kit.

EDIT - just did a quick google search, got these:
