I'm a new 2010 SE owner with a couple of questions

Postby mikem » Wed Jun 16, 2010 5:54 pm

Hey guys,
This is my first Pathfinder. I've had it for just over a week and I have a couple of questions:

1) I've read a lot on this forum about the tranny bypass (mostly with 05's) and was wondering if there's anything I need to know about with a 2010. I see there's a separate tranny cooler but just want to make sure there's nothing else going through the radiator.

2) When I first start it or start it after it's been sitting a while it revs to around 2k RPM and there's a lot of fan noise. Is this normal? The rpm's do slowly come down and the fan noise subsides - but it just seems a bit extreme when I first start it.

Thanks!

1. '08+ have the same basic design (tranny fluid is routed through radiator in addition to extra cooler). The plumbing is different on the '08+ so it's not quite as easy to change. I haven't switched it out yet but intend to at some point.

2. Seems to be normal as mine has done this as well. Most "trucks" seem to do this in my experience (the fan noise that is).

I am not going to do the tranny bypass, i am not worried, also my pathy revs to 1700-1850 when started cold.. than comes down.. warm it is fine on a restart. the Dealer can reset the ECM to not climb so high on the rpm's.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I just wanted to be sure of things. Now if I can only find the kids that stole my wallet on Saturday... :x
