MPG's suffering since towing.

Postby daxnizmo » Fri Jul 09, 2010 7:36 am

Well like the title says, the Pathy's mpg's have been around 16.5 ever since I had to haul my Z to Georgia last month. I expected it to go down during the trip but it's not come back up to the usual 18.5 since then. Am I missing something here, what gives? I thought about maybe changing the plugs?

Just like resetting the tripometer? Haven't done that. I'll give it a shot and see, then report my findings.

OK. I did the reset and it worked....sort of. After i reset it, it went to 25mpg but jumped around and eventually settled in the 17.8-18.7 range. It tends to be jumpy which it wasn't before. However, I think it'll be ok as long as it doesn't stay around 16 like before. Thanks!!

Its an *Average*. So until you have some significant miles on it after the reset, it will jump around based on where you are driving. If you are in the city or doing alot of starts and stops, it will get worse. If you do just highway, it gets better.

If you never reset it, its pretty much useless IMO.

If it was Actual, then you would see it changing everytime you did something different on the gas pedal.

I've seen mine read 99.9 MPG while coasting down a long hill coming out of Flagstaff into Phoenix. I re-set it while coasting.
