Is rear AC really an independent AC?

Postby Kidd_Funkadelic » Thu Jul 15, 2010 5:31 am

Can someone enlighten me on the rear climate controls for my 2005 LE? I always figured that they just direct the most cold air available (when you turn it to cold) and that whether this used the air conditioner or not would depend on what the front climate control settings are using (meaning if in Auto or AC-ON, the rear would get air conditioned air, otherwise it wouldn't). I was looking about the rear controls in the manual last night and it vaguely referred to a rear AC.

So, is there really a second compressor? I kind of doubt it.

Thanks for any insight.

it uses 1 compressor. if the a/c is off in the front then the rear will not operate independently, it will just blow regular air.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I just needed a sanity check :)
