Not sure, seams like a constant 12v feed casue it works as long as the battery is pluged in.

You could always tap the hot-wire and put a toggle on it. Might be able to move it over to a switched power supply but that would take some effort and tracing of wires. I'm not sure if there's a reason they wire them this way, but I also don't care for it.

Well on my M5 the buttons don't work without the key. Since our Path sits outside my wife is afraid someone could break a window and press the garage buttons... So I was hoping I could get it to work like my BMW...

Park the M5 outside and move the Path to the garage? J/K I don't think the system is setup to be dependent on the key. I like the fact that it isn't, but I do park in the garage so it's not a problem. I agree with your wife, accessing the garage through a car parked in the driveway is a common method for thieves. It happened to a neighbor of ours at our previous home. You may be out of luck unless you want to add a concealed hot switch as skinny mentioned, but that may be more work than you're looking for.

I use that too on vacations. What I want is the ability to open the doors from my Pathy but not when it is off or the keys are not in it...

Thanks

Use a relay to interrupt the 12 volt constant when the ignition is off. You can trigger it with the ignition wire, or with the key sense wire. If more of you are interested, I can post wiring info.
