OBD plug location?

Hi Guys,
I am thinking of buying a lead to connect my laptop to the car to check some basic OBD settings. (Never done anything like this before, but think that it would be better to try before any problems occur, so that I am better prepared if a fault light comes on in the future)
Anyway, where is the OBD plug located? Any other matters or issues I should be aware of?

Under the driver's side dash. It looks like a big plastic serial port.
